My contribution to leap day. I was able to run this guy down on the Shafter Subdivision.

This is my second BNSF coal train out on the Shafter Subdivision. With three units up front, and a DPU on the rear. They can make pretty good time.

The LUE51 local heads for Wendover on Saturday afternoon, with SD70M's 5102 and 3908.

Trucking right along. After awhile the crew realized they were celebrities. They were having a good time watching all us crazy railfans giving chase.

The local get out on the main on the Shafter sub, with the standard two SD70M's.

UP 7704, 6566, and DPU 8033, have really got this coal train moving on the Shafter Subdivision.

UP 1989 passes threw southwest reaches of The Great Salt Lake. The water here is being used for commercial evaporation ponds. Morton Salt has a plant near by, with a giant mountain of salt.

Time to go to work. The local has pulled off the Shafter Subdivision main, and onto the Ellerbeck Industrial Lead. The salt evaporation ponds are providing a nice reflection shot for these two SD4... (more)

A local out on the Shafter Subdivision, has backed it's cars on the industrial lead to do some switching. The evaporation pond provides a perfect mirror image for the two Union Pacific SD40-2's.
